The leadership of the Waterfront Boat Owners and Transport Association (WABOTAN) under its National President, Comrade Babatope Fajemirokun has congratulated and welcomed the newly appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
President Bola Tinubu had on Wednesday appointed Oyebamiji as Managing Director of NIWA, while Mr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima was appointed as the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers Council.
In a press statement issued by the WABOTAN President, he described the NIWA MD as a man of good track record, adding that the association is ready to work with him in order to realise the full potential of the Inland waterways.
“WABOTAN as a professional boat owners association wants to welcome the new Managing Director of NIWA, Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. We are aware of his track records and we want to assure him of our full corporation in his new office” Fajemirokun stated.
President had approved the two latest appointments in line with the recommendations of the Minister in-charge, Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
The new NIWA MD, Oyebamiji is a graduate of Banking and Finance and holds a Masterās degree in Public Administration and Business Administration.
He is an Economist with industry experience of more than 28 years before he entered the public service. In the public service, he first reversed the downward trajectory of the Osun State Investment Company Limited before serving as the Osun State Commissioner of Finance for eight years.
President Bola Tinubu tasks the new appointees in this vital sector to faithfully implement the policies and programmes of the Honourable Minister in pursuit of the expeditious and efficient attainment of bolstered revenues and investments as part of the Renewed Hope Agendaās Blue Economy strategy.
