Unpaid Salaries: CRFFN Workers Demand Management Explanation on How N37m Was Spent in 3 Months


Employees of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) have asked the Acting Registrar and management to explain how it expended N37,116,958.16 within three and half months while the council has not been able to pay workers salaries for almost four months.

This is coming after the management failed to fulfill its promise to start paying the salary arrears from April 15, 2024

The workers under the aegis of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria(MWUN), CRFFN unit is seeking advise from members on how to resolve the lingering inability to pay them.

They asked to know what exactly was the amount spent for when their salaries have not been paid since January this year.

In a circular written by Ojong Emmanuel , the
Organizing Secretary ,sent to members last week they asked rhetorically “Where is the balance of #37, 116,958. 16?


“On what exactly is such an amount spent when we have the biggest challenge of Staff salaries starring at us!

“It on this note that we have decided to write to the management to confirm the authenticity of the information at our disposal.
Request for a detailed explanation with back up evidence on why and how we are where we are with 37M expenditure when staff salaries have not been paid” the circular stated

They said from January to 14th April 2024, the council made #56, 116,958.16 out of which only #19m is saved for Staff Salaries which is not enough to cover the N35,216,521,76 monthly wage bill for employees, excluding contract workers.

An inquiry sent to Mrs Chinyere Uromta, the Acting Registrar of the council on her management reaction to the development was not responded to as at the time of writing this story.
