Tincan Island Customs Generates ₦16.4b in One Day Through B’Odogwu

The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded an unprecedented revenue collection of ₦16.41 billion on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, through the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), known as B’Odogwu.

This was disclosed in a press statement on 21st August,2025 by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs , Oscar Ivara.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, described the figure as a clear reflection of how the B’odogwu system is revolutionising port operations by improving efficiency, transparency, and real time service delivery.

According to Onyeka, the digital system has significantly enhanced access for licensed Customs agents and stakeholders, allowing them to complete payments and cargo clearance procedures seamlessly, without undue delays or administrative hurdles.

He also said that the B’Odogwu platform unifies all major components of port and Customs activities into a single digital ecosystem. This integration facilitates quicker processing, accurate goods valuation, and better oversight of cargo movement creating a more streamlined, predictable environment for all port users and boosting national revenue.

Highlighting the broader implications of the record breaking revenue, Comptroller Onyeka emphasised that it symbolises more than just financial success. It showcases the transformative impact of digital technology in port administration and underscores the importance of continuous collaboration among key stakeholders, including terminal operators, shipping lines, licensed Customs agents, and regulatory bodies.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to trade facilitation, revenue generation, and providing a business friendly environment that ensures prompt and cost efficient cargo processing for all users of the port.
