Ten Children Injured as Explosion Rocks Kaduna Community


An explosion has rocked Kidandan community, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, causing injury to 10 children.

Few days after a blast tore through the commercial city of Ibadan, Oyo state capital, an explosion has rocked Kidandan community, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, causing injury to 10 children.

The bang was said to have taken place when 10 children were playing with explosive devices. An investigation has commenced.

Although the authorities were yet to react to the incident, journalists were told that the explosion happened on Saturday.

The explosion reportedly caused tension and fear in the predominantly Hausa community, Vanguard reports.


According to a source, “Tension gripped Kidandan Village in the Giwa council of Kaduna State on Saturday afternoon.

“Ten children suffered injuries in a sudden explosion. The incident occurred while the children were playing with an object discovered in a nearby bush.

“Emergency services are there, while an investigation is ongoing.”

The Kaduna explosion is coming a few days ago, a devastating explosion wreaked havoc on Ibadan, Oyo State capital. Oyo State government on Thursday said the number of fatalities from Tuesday’s explosion in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, had risen to five. The latest figure topped the earlier report by two additional deaths.

The Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, Fatai Owoseni, gave the update during a press briefing on Thursday, adding that two additional bodies were recovered.

The governor, Seyi Makinde, had in explaining the blast, stated that “Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing”.

He vowed that all those found culpable for this will be brought to book. The State government further stated that it has identified the company that stored the explosives, which caused Tuesday night’s explosion on Dejo Oyelese Street, Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija, Ibadan.
