Staff Welfare Is My Concern and Priority, Says NIWA MD


The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji FCIB has said that the welfare of staff is his concern and priority.

The MD disclosed this in an interactive session with staff during his maiden official visit to the Warri Area office in Delta State on Wednesday 5th September, 2024.

He advised the staff to work harder in revenue generation in order to better their welfare.

Oyebamiji equally took a tour of the facilities (Authority’s yard, shoreline, and NIWA newly built concrete jetty) and promised an upgrade to engender efficiency within the system.

Similarly, the MD reiterated his commitment to staff welfare and revenue generation when he visited Onitsha Area office in Anambra state in continuation of his official working visit. He emphasised the need for staff to be disciplined and rededicated to the growth and development of the Authority.


The MD assured the staff of regular training and retraining for optimum performance. Mr Bola Oyebamij thereafter inspected the Onitsha river port complex and developments on the Authority’s right of way.
