The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has conducted a workshop on Performance Management Systems (PMS) for its Directors, Deputy Directors, and Heads of Units.
The workshop is part of the Council’s broader plan to embed a performance driven culture across its operations, aligning closely with the priorities of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
This latest training follows the recent signing of a Performance Bond between top-level officers and the Executive Secretary/CEO of the NSC, Dr. Akutah Pius, during a high-level management retreat held in Lagos. The initiative signals a deliberate move by the Council to extend performance benchmarks across all levels of staff.
Addressing participants at the opening session, Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Ahmed Garta, stressed the critical role of the PMS framework in driving operational success. He encouraged attendees to fully engage with the workshop, stressing the importance of commitment to measurable and accountable outcomes.
The session was facilitated by Professor Adeyemi Ajayi, who offered comprehensive insights into the fundamentals and strategic application of performance management. He expressed confidence that the training would not only strengthen the leadership’s capacity but also lead to substantial gains in organizational performance.
According to the Council, the workshop reflects its sustained effort to institutionalise a culture of accountability, where productivity, transparency, guide all levels of engagement.
