President Bola Tinubu’s Sunday morning address on August 4, 2024 in the face of ongoing nationwide end bad governance protests failed to address some expectations.
Below are some seven areas of interest he was expected to address in the speech
1. Detailed steps to reduce cost of governance including an update on planned implementation of Oransaye Report
2. Addressing insecurity that has raised the risk associated with farming in Nigeria to boost local food production
3. Give a sincere picture of the fuel subsidy regime and speak directly to the issue of PMS price with immediate, medium and long term plan to achieve local refining at more affordable cost for benefit of citizens
4. Judicial and electoral reforms through executive sponsored bills to NASS to promote justice and integrity of the electoral process
5. Working with other tiers of government to address the challenge of out of school children across various states in Nigeria
6. Reversing electricity tarrif to old regime until there is visible and appreciable improvement in service delivery to justify increase
7. Ensuring transparency and zero bias in the distribution of government sponsored palliatives to Nigerians
