The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, recorded a total revenue of ₦15,598,945,794.00 billion between January and December 2025, representing a 117 per cent increase over the ₦7,166,576,397.49 billion generated in 2024.
In December 2025, the command generated a historic Three Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty-Eight Million, Four Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Ninety Naira (₦3,628,485,590.00); the highest monthly revenue on record.
Comptroller Wale Adenuga described the performance as “the strongest the Command has posted since inception,” attributing the figures largely to the successful implementation of the One-Stop Shop (OSS) initiative introduced by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. He said the OSS has strengthened inter-agency coordination and improved trade facilitation along the Seme corridor, benefiting both the Command and stakeholders.
Comptroller Adenuga further explained that the same day, the CGC launched a free medical outreach under the Customs Cares Initiative, providing essential healthcare services to over 1,000 beneficiaries. He said the outreach was complemented by a tree planting exercise aimed at promoting environmental sustainability within border communities.
In line with the Comptroller-General’s directives, Comptroller Adenuga said he reduced checkpoints along the Lagos–Abidjan corridor to the two locations approved by the Federal Government.
He also highlighted the Command’s robust anti smuggling operations, noting that in December 2025 alone, officers seized 685 parcels of Cannabis sativa (marijuana), 495 packs of Tramadol, and 2,000 packs of Super Power Sildenafil tablets (300mg) through intelligence-led operations, enhanced patrols, risk profiling, and inter-agency collaboration.
Beyond revenue generation,
Adenuga highlighted the Command’s achievements in community development and social responsibility. He noted that on 11th November 2025, the Seme Command hosted the launch of the Green Border Initiative by the National President of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi. The programme included the distribution of industrial sewing machines, grinding machines, gas burners with cylinders, and start-up grants to members of the COWA Seme Chapter.
The CAC, assured compliant traders and stakeholders of a secure, efficient, and trade friendly corridor that supports legitimate cross-border commerce and economic growth. He expressed gratitude to the CGC and the Service’s management for their support and commended officers and men of the Command, stakeholders, sister agencies, security forces, the media, and traditional leaders, pledging even greater achievements in 2026.
