Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Cadre Duja Effedua has described a report by MMS, a maritime industry publication linking him with sitting arrangement issues at the recently held World Maritime Day in Lagos as untrue and defamatory while considering to take legal action on the matter
Reacting to the media report by a maritime publication where his name and photo were published, Effedua said he attended the event on the invite of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and did not grant any media interview
He said, it was shocking to see his name and a narrative about sitting arrangements about another Ag Chief Executive under the ministry, describing it as a creation of the writer’s imagination.
He said the report insinuate that he had issues and altercation with officials of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy during the 2024 World Maritime Day celebration held at the Eko Hotel, Lagos.
“My attention was drawn to the report and I have been receiving calls on the report as published. I did not speak with any journalist at the event even when they approached me for comments, i declined because I already said all I needed to say on the podium”
“The Publication by MMS which I learnt is published by one Mr. Kingsley Anaroke, is a shock to me. I am shocked because i have never met him and i do not know him. Where did MMS get the story from?
“I feel very embarrassed and assaulted emotionally. This is another Cyber Bullying targeted at my person. They have twenty four hours to retract that story or face the consequences
“The story is false, concocted and intended to create bad blood while courting friendship in other areas. I do not want to be drawn into such petty politics. Everyone should focus on their work.
“The MMS should do a retraction immediately. I have been receiving calls on this matter which seems to diminish the great job we have done at the academy that I spoke about at the event
“I wasn’t involved in any of those things written about me and I never said those things the writer ascribed to my person. I have informed my lawyers and may petition the Inspector General of Police over this act of Cybercrime if a retraction is not done by the writer within 24 hours” he said
