PTML Customs Targets One-Hour Clearance for RoRo Cargoes, Secures Approval for Pharmaceutical Imports
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command has set an ambitious target of achieving one-hour clearance for Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) cargoes, aiming to surpass its current two-hour record.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Tenny Daniyan, announced this during the command’s celebration of International Customs Day in Lagos on Monday, 27 January 2025.
Comptroller Daniyan emphasised that compliance from importers and their agents is crucial to achieving this goal. “With compliance in the form of sincere declaration, prompt payment of duty, and readiness for exit, the command is capable of clearing automobile cargoes within one hour.”
Daniyan disclosed that a significant development for the PTML Command is the recent approval by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for the importation of pharmaceuticals.
According to him, this approval is attributed to the command’s enhanced security measures and transparent operational procedures.
The CAC commended Grimaldi Management for their commitment to efficiency and applauded the commencement of their shipping services from Lagos to Shanghai in China. He emphasised that this development should be sustained through legitimate shipping practices and increased trade activities.
The Area Controller assured that 2025 would feature improvements on previous achievements by the command while urging all stakeholders to keep supporting the NCS in its drive for modernisation.
The event also coincides with the command’s end-of-year get-together, which celebrates the successes and achievements of 2024.
