
As part ongoing progress being made with the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) also known as B’Odogwu, the Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command has achieved integration of the portal with Form M and Pre Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) documents.
This was disclosed by Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan during a sensitization meeting with stakeholders of the command who use the B’Odogwu platform.
Addressing licensed customs agents and freight forwarders at the opening session of the sensitization event, Comptroller Daniyan described the UCMS as a great success that is out to revolutionise trade by making transactions fast and seamless.
According to Customs Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Tsafe Abubakar, who disclosed this in a press release,the Controller said, users of the platform can now roll out Form M and PAAR from UCMS unlike in the past when it required a time consuming attachment and documentation procedure before cargo clearance
According to the CAC, figures attest to the progress being made with the B’Odogwu platform despite teething challenges as over ₦196.5b has been generated by the command since the deployment of the UCMS in November 2024 , when it was flagged off by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi,
He also commended the CGC for mobilising all commercial banks on board the platform and described his relentless commitment to the service success as an inspiration to all officers, especially at PTML which is the pilot area for B’Odogwu implementation
While thanking the stakeholders for their patience and understanding during the take off and very challenging period, Comptroller Daniyan described them as the powers behind the throne as according to him, nothing could have been achieved without their support
He also said all Nigerians have equal stakes in contributing their patriotic quota in the journey towards nation building as the B’Odogwu system is our home grown tech driven trade facilitation initiative deserving of utmost support.
Participants at the sensitisation meeting commended the command for timely interventions to address all complaints challenges. They unanimously attested that over 90 percent of all challenges associated with the platform have been solved by dedicated officers scheduled to interface with them
