Police Confirms Release of 20 Medical Students, Others From Benue Forest


The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced that the 20 medical students and others that were kidnapped in Ntunkon Forest , Benue State, on 15th August 2024 have been rescued without the payment of any ransom.

The medical students were abducted on their way to Enugu for their annual Federation of Medical and Dental students convention.

The Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed on his X handle that they were rescued through professional tactics yesterday, Friday 23rd August 2024.

He hailed operatives of sister security agencies who aided their release.

” We confirm the release of our brothers and sisters and some other Nigerians who have been in captivity on Friday 23rd August 2024 in Ntunkon forest, Benue State without any ransom paid”


“Contrary to some tweets and unconfirmed stories that some money was paid, no kobo was paid to release them. They were actually rescued tactically and professionally. We commend the security agencies, locals, and ONSA for their commitment and resilience” he wrote.
