Oyo/Osun Customs Strengthens Interagency Collaboration with Correctional, Immigration, Civil Defence Services

The Customs Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to stronger interagency collaboration as part of its efforts to boost national security and socio economic development.
In a press release issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola, on 1st October, 2025, Comptroller Aliyu embarked on the courtesy visits to three key sister agencies , the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on 30th September, 2025.
At the Correctional Service, the Area Controller emphasised the agency’s strategic role in reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating offenders into society. He described the service as a vital contributor to peace and stability, stressing the need for deeper cooperation in tackling crime, smuggling, and other threats to national security.
Similarly, at the Nigeria Immigration Service, he commended the officers for their frontline role in protecting the nation’s borders and regulating migration. He highlighted the service’s professionalism and dedication as essential to safeguarding national security, ensuring orderly migration management, and promoting socio-economic stability.
During his visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Aliyu acknowledged the NSCDC’s efforts in safeguarding critical infrastructure, protecting lives and property, and maintaining internal security. He praised their contributions in combating smuggling, vandalism, and other cross-border crimes, noting that their operations consistently complement the work of the Customs Service.
The CAC assured that the Oyo/Osun Area Command will continue to work closely with all sister agencies to strengthen synergy, enhance security operations, and protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity. He reiterated that effective interagency collaboration remains central to addressing evolving security challenges and sustaining national development.
