Oyo/Osun Customs, NDLEA Deepen Collaboration to Combat Drug Trafficking , Strengthen Border Security

The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, has reiterated its determination to strengthen inter agency cooperation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, substance abuse, and other border-related crimes.

This was disclosed in a press release by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola, on 9th November, 2025.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the NDLEA Oyo State Command on Friday, November 7, 2025. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to consolidate the long-standing relationship between the two agencies and to explore new avenues for partnership in promoting national security.
Comptroller Aliyu appreciated the NDLEA for its warm reception and acknowledged the agency’s significant achievements in curbing the spread of illicit drugs and reducing substance abuse among Nigerian youths. He noted that the NDLEA’s consistent enforcement operations and sensitization programmes have greatly contributed to reducing the negative impact of drug-related crimes in the country.

He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint operations between the two agencies, particularly in tackling cross border drug smuggling and other transnational crimes. He stressed that effective cooperation remains essential for strengthening border security and ensuring public safety.
Aliyu reaffirmed the Nigeria service’s commitment, under the leadership of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi to fostering partnerships that enhance operational efficiency and national stability. He assured that the Oyo/Osun Command would continue to support every initiative that aligns with the collective goal of a safer and more secure Nigeria.
