Oyo/Osun Customs: Comptroller Gambo Declares ₦77.8b Collection in 10 Months, Makes ₦818m Seizures

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected a total revenue of ₦77,880,153,197.62k from the month of January to October 2025 representing a 17.5% increase compared to ₦64,269,394,207.65k collected during the same period in 2024.
In the aspect of anti-smuggling activities, the Command recorded the seizures of the prohibited items worth ₦818,789,310.25 Duty Paid Value (DPV) within 4th June 2025 to 31st October 2025.

The Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu who disclosed this to journalists during his maiden press briefing at the Command operational headquarters in Ibadan said the figures represents a commendable level of commitment by the officers of the Command despite prevailing economic challenges, demonstrating the Command’s unwavering dedication to achieving and surpassing the monthly set target by the Service.
According to him, the seized items include; 3,671 in 50kg bags of foreign parboiled rice, 403Kegs of 25 Liters Each= 10,075 Litres of premium motor spirit, 73 pieces of used compressor, 1,054 pieces of used tyres, 166 Bales =19 Sacks of used clothes , 9 sacks of used shoes ,25 sacks of used bags, 79 wraps of Cannabis Sativa, various unregistered pharmaceuticals,1 Used Toyota Hilux, 1 Used Mercedies Benz GLE and 2 Used Toyota Camry cars.

Comptroller Aliyu announced that in Some of the cases where defendants were arrested with respect to the seizures, the defendants have been charged to the Federal High Court where they are being prosecuted in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
He stated that the Command recognises that effective Customs administration thrives on collaboration and to this end, the Command has continued to deepen it’s engagement with critical stakeholders including traditional institutions, sister security agencies, business communities, and the media.

The CAC appreciated the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support in ensuring that the Command achieves her core mandate.He also appreciate the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and his Management Team for their continuous support and guidance.
