The outgoing Dockworkers Branch President of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Ibrahim Tajudeen Ohize has issued a solemn charge to his successor to uphold the integrity of the union, a value that has been paramount during his tenure.
He made this charge in his welcome address at the 6th Dockworkers Branch Quadrennial Delegates Conference holding currently in warri Delta state.
Comrade Ohize expresses deep gratitude to members, executives, and stakeholders who supported his administration, describing his time in office as one of sacrifice, growth, and collective achievement.
Speaking before delegates, stakeholders, and union executives gathered for the conference, Comrade Ohize who has led the dockworkers for eight years expresses deep gratitude to his team, the union leadership, and members for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
The outgoing president also paid tribute to the immediate past President General of MWUN, Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, for his mentorship and consistent support, adding that the successes of the dockworkers’ branch were not achieved in isolation but through collective will, dialogue, and solidarity.
Turning his focus to the future, Comrade Ohize encouraged union members to prioritize peace, transparency, and unity during the ongoing electoral process. He emphasised that the branch’s strength lies in its ability to work together despite differences in opinion or background.
As the conference continues anticipation builds around who will emerge as the next president of the Dockworkers Branch.
