Oyetola Reaffirms Federal Government’s Commitment to Maritime Training, Human Capital Development
… as MAN Oron graduates 2025 cadet class

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, through continued investment in training infrastructure, international collaboration, and cadetship opportunities.
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, represented by the Director of Maritime Safety and Security at the Ministry, Mr. Babatunde Bombata, made this known during the 2025 Passing Out Parade of graduating cadets of the Academy held on 13th November 2025 , at Akwa Ibom State.
In his remarks, Oyetola congratulated the graduating Class of 2025 for their resilience and discipline, describing them as worthy ambassadors of the Academy and the nation. The Minister noted that their successful completion of rigorous academic, technical, and physical training demonstrated their readiness to serve the maritime industry with professionalism and patriotism.
Oyetola commended the Acting Rector, Governing Council, and staff of the Academy for their transformative leadership, noting that MAN Oron has evolved into a world class maritime training institution. He highlighted major improvements in infrastructure, curriculum modernization, simulator-based training, and adherence to global conventions such as the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), which have enhanced the Academy’s global standing.
The Minister emphasised that human capital development remains central to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the Marine and Blue Economy sector. He stated that the Ministry’s mission seeks to unlock opportunities in shipping, port development, fisheries, maritime transport, marine tourism, and offshore resource management, with the Academy playing a key role in producing skilled professionals for Nigeria’s growing maritime space.

He assured that the Federal Government would continue to support MAN Oron through the provision of modern training facilities, expansion of international partnerships, enhancement of cadetship and sea-time placements, and promotion of research and innovation in maritime education.
While acknowledging the sacrifices of parents and guardians as well as the dedication of instructors and staff who have contributed to shaping the next generation of maritime professionals, he urged the graduating cadets to uphold the values of discipline, and values gained from the Academy guide their conduct and service to the nation.
