NRC to Resume Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Next Week, Makes Refund to 512 Passengers

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train service will resume operations next week, and has refunded 512 out of 583 passengers who were on board the affected train.

This decision follows the successful completion of repair and safety checks on the affected section of track at Asham as services was temporarily suspended after a tragic derailment incident on August 26, 2025.

According to a press release signed by the Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the corporation worked tirelessly to repair both infrastructure and rolling stock to the highest safety standards in line with global best practices, and they are ongoing efforts to process refunds for the remaining 71 passengers .

The NRC appreciates the patience and understanding of its esteemed passengers and assures the general public that their safety, comfort, and satisfaction will continue to be its foremost priorities.

The corporation also acknowledges the support of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, security agencies, the media, and all stakeholders, stating that details on the official resumption date and schedule will be communicated in due time
