
Nigeria’s National Single Window (NSW) has officially gone live with its first phase roll out, marking a landmark in the country’s trade and port operations.The digital platform is designed to streamline import and export procedures, allowing traders to submit all necessary documentation through a single portal, reducing delays and improving efficiency.
The Director of NSW, Mr. Tola Fakola, described the rollout as a monumental step forward for Nigeria’s trade processes. The demonstration session showcased key features of the platform, including application procedures, agency reviews, and approval workflows.

Representing the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Deputy Comptroller General of Customs (ICT/Modernisation) Oluyomi Adebakin, highlighted that the initiative is not only a step forward for trade but a moment of national pride, benefiting all citizens. She emphasised that after decades of attempts over the past 20 years, the rollout actualises a vision long anticipated and facilitated under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She said the rollout also aligns with Nigeria’s preparation for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), providing a modern, digitalised framework for goods moving in and out of the country. Adebakin stressed that the sustainability and success of the system rely on stakeholders embracing digitalisation, modernisation.

Also speaking at the official rollout, Zonal Coordinator for Zone ‘A’ , Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Mohammed Babandede, highlighted the practical benefits of the platform. He explained that where traders previously had to submit documents through countless windows, they can now do everything through a single system as the innovation saves time and energy and also reduces paper usage by digitalising processes.

Babandede outlined that the initiative is designed to facilitate trade and that the Nigeria Customs Service is fully committed to supporting and collaborating to ensure the success of the project.
Representing the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Abubakar Dantosho, Mr Adekunle Fatai , highlighted that traders and operators will benefit greatly, as they no longer need to move between different agencies to submit or receive documents. He said the NSW, manifests and approvals are accessible digitally to all relevant agencies, streamlining processes and ensuring timely feedback. He assured that the NPA fully supports and is actively implementing the system, demonstrating the collaborative effort behind national initiative.
