
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) bagged multiple recognitions at the 15th edition of the Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV) Awards held in Lagos on April 17, 2026.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Ona Najomo, was honoured with the Aviation Agency CEO of the Year Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to aviation safety, regulatory excellence, and industry development in Nigeria.
Also recognised at the event was the NCAA Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, who received the Aviation Agency Director Award for his role in strengthening consumer protection and stakeholder engagement.
Dr. (Mrs.) Anastasia Gbem, Director of Human Resources and Administration, was also honoured with a special recognition award for her contributions to aviation leadership and administration.
The Authority emerged as one of the major winners at the ceremony, receiving several awards, including recognition for digital innovation through its SMS Pro platform as well as honours for excellence in consumer protection, customer service delivery, passenger front desk information services, and ease of doing business.
Reacting to the awards, Capt. Najomo acknowledged the role of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN), in driving reforms and creating an enabling environment for growth in the aviation sector.
He also expressed profound appreciation to the organisers, FCI International Limited, for the recognition, noting that the awards reflect the collective efforts of the management and staff of NCAA, reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to global best practices in safety, security, economic viability, and consumer protection.
