Maritime Workers Union Pledges Support for Mobereloa, New NIMASA DG


The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of Comrade Adewale Adeyanju expressed readiness to support the newly appointed Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr Dayo Mobereloa

The Union in a congratulatory message issued in Lagos and signed by John Kennedy Ikemefuna, the Union’s head of media, the workers body assured Dr. Mobereloa of full support and cooperation while describing him as someone with academic and work experience fit for the office

According to the union, the new NIMASA helmsman has the wherewithal to navigate the NIMASA Agency as it were.

“The leadership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria is welcoming the new DG into his new designation with all hands open as he pilots the enormous affairs of NIMASA.

“The Union has had symbiotic relationships with past Directors -General of the Agency and believes that such cordial relationships will continue to wax stronger with Dr. Mobereola as it were.

“In view of this, the Union will continue to give her usual support and cooperation with continuous inhouse engagement from time to time for a mutual understanding of the maritime industry.

“Once again, the Union welcomes Dr. Mobereola as he assumes his new designation in NIMASA, and also pray that the Almighty God will give him the strength, wisdom and knowledge to have a smooth sail in piloting the affairs of the Agency” the statement read

The new DG of NIMASA who holds a PhD and Msc in Wales respectively is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport England, and a fellow of Chartered Institute of Transport in Nigeria too. He was the former Managing Director, Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) from 2003-2015. And was also Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation from 2015 to 2016.
