Maritime Workers Leader,Adeyanju Lauds PTML Sponsorship of Employees for Foreign Training


President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, has commended the Managing Director of Ports and Terminal Multi services Ltd ( PTML) over training sponsorship of five (5) Dockworkers, members of the Union and staffers of PTML under RORO TinCan Island District for Mobile Crane Operation (RTG) to Germany and Holland

IMG 20240406 WA0046Adeyanju said Maritime Workers of the PTML Unit have acquired specialied training on Rubber Tyred Gantry crane operation both in Germany and Holland; and had returned to the country upon completion of the training.

Dr. Adeyanju who is the foremost maritime labour leader, Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Vice President Global, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) commended the Managing Director of PTML, Ascanio Russo for being magnanimous enough to see reasons for training and retraining the workers for the purpose of pragmatic output in today’s modern industrial development and growth, such that would match the growing pace of global maritime practice.

IMG 20240406 WA0047Prince Adeyanju described Mr. Russo as a maritime guru in his own dynamic class with a visionary foresight towards manpower development in conformity with challenges of repositioning PTML for rapid progression of a more prosperous maritime outfit in the country and to measure at par with her counterparts across the globe.

According to him,the union is impressed and grateful to the management of PTML over this wonderful gesture and pray that this symbiotic relationship between PTML and MWUN will continue to wax stronger in all ramifications.


Adeyanju also urged other stakeholders, especially port operators in the country to emulate the PTML laudable feat of investing in human capital development, which according to him will promote safe practices and improve operational efficiency
