
The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu has commended the Nigeria Customs Service and it’s leadership as being very proactive in its contributions to the national economy and security
Oba Akiolu said this when he received the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba in his palace.
The monarch who also doubles as Permanent Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, described the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as one elevated to the office by God.
According to him, Adeniyi’s diligence and hard work earned him an extension which Nigeria is benefitting from in many ways including revenue collection, trade facilitation, national security and national security
He commended the NCS for it’s many strides and urged the service to keep giving it’s best for the economic, security and social well being of the country.
While offering royal prayers for the NCS the monarch urged the NCS to promote justice and fairness in the discharge of it’s duties
He described Comptroller Oshoba as one from one of the best family in Ogun State whom he also described as his son.
On anti smuggling, the king said customs should keep safeguarding the lives of Nigerians by always preventing unwholesome food and drugs from entering the country.
Comptroller Oshoba who thanked the Oba for his royal blessings thanked him for his support and hospitality. The CAC described Lagos as very vital to customs operations in the country since the state accounts for over fifty percent of revenue collection made by the NCS
According to the Controller, the visit is to pay homage to the revered traditional institution and formally introduce himself and members of his team to the Oba
