Popular actor and former spokesman for the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign council, Kenneth Okonkwo has announced his exit from the party.
Among the reasons he gave was that he was “earnestly searching for such a leader who has the integrity and also the commensurate charisma and bravery to mobilise the people to sustain the victory, in the event that Nigeria votes for such a person”.
Okonkwo who made the announcement via his X handle (formerly Twitter) also declared that he has parted ways with former presidential candidate of LP, Peter Obi.
“I received my first shock when he (Peter Obi) publicly declared that he didn’t promise Nigerians to build a strong Labour Party, but to solve Nigeria problems. I was like, does it mean HE Peter Obi is not aware that without a solid party base, we are heading to nowhere politically?
However, I continued in his defence believing he will still privately bring the needed solution to LP problems. to no avail”, part of the statements posted by Okonkwo reads.
Keneth Okonkwo has however said that his move “does not include joining APC or PDP for now, but includes, and not limited to consolidation of Labour Party”.
Controversial reactions have continued to trail the former Labour Party spokesman’s decision.
