Kano Police Nab 4 Bandits With ₦1m Cash, Arms, Ammunition

Kano State Police Command in a major breakthrough has apprehended four suspected bandits, foiling their plans to purchase an AK-47 rifle.

The Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa disclosed this while parading the suspects to journalist at the police headquarters Bompai, Kano.

He said the arrest was made possible through credible intelligence gathered by the police.

According to Public relations officer, the suspects – Shukurana Salihu (25), Rabi’u Dahiru (35), Ya’u Idris (30), all from Katsina State, and Muktar Sani (30) from Yandodo Hotoro Quarters, Kano – were arrested on March 6, 2025, at about 2:00 pm at Chula Filling Station, Hotoro Quarters, Kano.

“A thorough search of the suspects yielded a cache of arms and ammunition, including: Three (3) locally made revolver pistols, 12 live ammunition of different calibers, Three (3) cartridges, Two (2) cutlasses and Four (4) knives.

“Others include 24 pieces of ball bearings, Cash sum of N1,028,800 and Suspected charms.”

The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and will be charged to court for prosecution upon completion of the investigation.
