As part of efforts to strengthen institutional and community ties, the Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) hosted a series of sporting activities involving licensed customs agents, terminal operators, and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members on 28 May 2025.
The events which was held at the Command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano, was organised under the broader directive of the Comptroller-General’s Work-Life Balance initiative, which encourages customs officers to maintain physical and mental wellness while reinforcing inter-agency collaboration.
The Customs Area Controller, Kano/Jigawa, Comptroller Dalhatu Abubakar, said the initiative held at the Command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano, was not merely recreational but part of a broader strategy to foster strategic engagement between officers, corps members, and critical stakeholders in the trade facilitation chain.
“We believe in nurturing trust and mutual understanding, and events like this are a step toward breaking down communication barriers,” he said.
Activities ranged from team-building exercises such as lane jumping and blindfold challenges to lighthearted games like bottle picking and “fast guy,” providing a relaxed environment for interactions outside the pressures of official duties.
Hafiz Ridwan, Chairman, Kano Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), said, “This initiative not only builds trust but also deepens our working relationship with the Customs,”
While commendation letters were presented to several officers for outstanding performance, the ANLCA chairman also commended Comptroller Abubakar for the ongoing reforms to reposition the Area Command for greater efficiency.
