Justify Your Ranks With Hardwork, Comptroller Odusanya Urges Promoted Officers as Lilypond Command Celebrates ICD
Customs Area Controller of the Lilypond Export Command (LEXC) Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya has urged newly promoted officers serving in the command to put in more efforts as a way to justify their new ranks.
Odusanya who said this while performing the decoration of the newly promoted officers with their new ranks, described promotion as a call to higher duties in the service of our great nation.
The event also featured the command’s celebration of International Customs Day with the theme “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity”
He advised the officers to set the best examples for their surbodinates to emulate by ensuring that they perform their duties excellently in line with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and in accordance with the zero tolerance for smuggling principle of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Odusanya described the theme of this year’s ICD as apt as it speaks directly to the security and economic impact of the NCS in Nigeria especially in protecting the nation’s economy from being vulnerable to smuggling and sustaining it’s rising growth as a facilitator of trade.
The Area Controller who described LEXC as a unique area command saddled with export trade, commended the officers for what he described as outstanding performance in 2024 while asking that they redouble the accomplished feats.
He also advised officers who missed out on the recent promotion to keep approaching work with positive mindsets and prepare for their next examination as chances are that they would be be elevated next time based on available vacancies.
The Controller thanked export stakeholders for their increasing level of compliance and reassured that the command would not relent in trade facilitation, ease of doing business and promotion of international best practices in the processing of export cargoes within customs control
