Comrade Bolaji Agboola has emerged as the President, Dockworkers Branch of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN).
He was declared winner at the branch Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Warri Delta State on 23rd June ,2025 .
Agboola, a former District 2 Chairman at Tin Can Island Port, takes over from Comrade Ibrahim Tajudeen Ohize, who is currently the Vice President General of MWUN.
In his acceptance speech , Agboola described the moment as a reaffirmation of the unity and resilience of dockworkers across the country.
He thanked the delegates for electing him and the new executive members unopposed, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
Agboola, who previously served as District 2 Chairman at Tin Can Island Port, pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, Comrade Ibrahim Tajudeen Ohize.
He commended Ohize for his leadership and unwavering dedication to the welfare of dockworkers, noting that the new executive would continue to uphold the core values of the union.
According to him, priority will be given to workers’ welfare, safety, training, and maintainance of industrial peace in all operational zones.
The new president called on all members of the Dockworkers Branch to support the new leadership as they begin a fresh chapter in the union’s journey. He emphasized that the task ahead requires collective effort and unity, assuring members that their voices and interests will remain at the centre of every decision.
