JournalNG, Nigeria’s leading general interest publication with a bias for maritime reporting has been honoured with the Best Maritime Magazine Award by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) .
According to a press release signed by Elizabeth Toyon on behalf of the Magazine Publisher, Ismail Aniemu, the award presentation which took place in Lagos on Friday July 17, 2025 at the Annual AMJON Conference was in recognition of the magazine’s consistency as a bi-weekly and bridging information gaps among the industry stakeholders.
In a letter jointly signed by Kelvin Kagbare, AMJON President; Segun Oladipupo, Secretary and Paul Ogbuokiri, Chairman Planning Committee, the publication was chosen for standing out and being credible.
The trio also described the magazine as dependable resource and reference publication with exceptional content quality; engaging readership with well-researched and insightful articles that resonate with the maritime stakeholders.
It’s innovative design, visually striking layouts, strong cohesive editorial vision with clear, compelling writing and editing were also listed as reasons for the award.
At the pre award citation, the magazine’s growing digital Innovation, consistent usage of illustrations like entertaining cartoons, multimedia integration and it’s exceptional deployment of imagery/ infographics to complement content were lauded by Ugo Ezurike, Publisher , Nation Update.
Ismail Aniemu, JournalNG Publisher described the honour as an encouragement to his team’s modest contributions to maritime reporting. He dedicated the award to all members of his team for their support of journalism practice, joining to see it as a profession and social service for development of the society.
