Senator Ali Ndume, Senator representing Borno South, has said the security agencies in Nigeria are not equipped or trained enough to tackle the rising spare of insecurity in the country. He said they lack equipment, training and motivation.
According to him, all government investments in the sector is like a drop in the ocean and incapable of solving the challenges.
Ndume who was speaking on a live television interview monitored by our reporter in Lagos, said some newly recruited persons earn less than N50, 000 monthly and daily allowance of less than N2000 for those confronting terrorists
He called for a review of the salaries which were last reviewed in 2018. He added that it was wrong to pay civil servants who do not face risks as much as N30,000 as DTA while soldiers risking their lives get N2000
According to him the N700bn earmarked for the army in the 2024 budget is inadequate.
