Oamen during a courtesy visit by the FOC to the NIMASA headquarters in Lagos.The Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez, will embark on a three day working visit to Nigeria from October 2nd to 4th, 2025.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, during a courtesy visit to the agency’s headquarters by Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Michael Gregory Oamen.
Dr. Mobereola hailed the longstanding collaboration between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy as a driving force behind the nation’s maritime security achievements. He described the relationship as a model of inter-agency cooperation, particularly in the ongoing fight against piracy and maritime crime across Nigerian waters and the wider Gulf of Guinea.

According to the NIMASA DG, Dominguez’s visit will include tours of key Nigerian Navy installations and NIMASA facilities in Lagos.
Highlighting the regional significance of the visit, Mobereola emphasised that Nigeria’s maritime security success story could serve as a blueprint for other coastal nations and regional organisations seeking to combat maritime threats.

Rear Admiral Oamen commended NIMASA’s management for its ongoing commitment to cooperation with the Nigerian Navy. He described the inter-agency alliance as vital to sustaining the growth and stability of Nigeria’s maritime industry.
