The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla has commended the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION) for performing excellently within it’s first year of operation, providing needed training to advance knowledge in the blue economy
Speaking at the commissioning of the remodeled IMION administrative block in Lagos, Admiral Ogalla noted that within the last one year, the Institute has been delivering on its assignment by offering capacity building programmes touching directly at the executive human capital needs of the nation’s maritime industry
According to him, the Institute has performed greatly within its first year showing the capacity to eradicate the low awareness about maritime matters, which he called sea blindness while dispensing strategic knowledge with high a performing faculty
The CNS added that the Institute would be supported to do more with capacity upgrades like establishment of a digital library and other facilities.
Ogalla said IMION is Nigerian Navy’s intervention to bridging the knowledge gap in training, promote research and contribute immensely to Nigeria’s efforts in harnessing benefits of the blue economy.
While commending the IMION Director General, Rear Admiral Thaddeus Christopher Udofia, RTD. for the great strides associated with the Institute within a year, Ogalla described him as a hard working gentleman known for top notch performance.
Addressing Udofia,Ogalla said “We are not surprised, because we know you and we know what you can do. Just note that the result of hardwork is more work
In his welcome address, the IMION DG thanked the CNS for the visit and support given so far with an assurance to keep improving on the performance of the Institute.
