In a significant move towards promoting and protecting human rights, Guard Time Information, a renowned human rights organisation, has successfully completed a nationwide training program for human rights activists.
This was disclosed in a press release by Comrade Bibi Oduku, CEO/Chairman of Guard Time Information.
The program, which was conducted in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission and various federal ministries was aimed at empowering human rights activists to promote and protect citizens’ rights across Nigeria.
According to Comrade Bibi Oduku, CEO/Chairman of Guard Time Information, the organisation has further extended its collaborations to organisations such as the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), security agencies, schools, and other institutions working to uphold human rights in Nigeria.
Speaking on the significance of this initiative, Mr Bibi Oduku, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritise citizen’s welfare and security while emphasising the need to harness Nigeria’s talented youth and professionals to drive meaningful change and ensure justice for all.
He also disclosed that the organization has assembled a team of 50 legal practitioners, journalists, and correspondents, with state coordinators nationwide working together to bring human rights violators to justice.
Speaking further, he noted that legal practitioners, alongside state coordinators nationwide, are actively working to apprehend human rights violators with the assistance of the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters in Abuja and their efforts has already led to multiple successful interventions in recent months.
