FOU Zone A Customs Equips Officers with Reputation Management Skills  

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit ,Zone A, has equipped its officers with reputation management skills aimed at strengthening professionalism, improving stakeholder relations, and boosting public confidence in customs operations.

Speaking during a workshop organised for officers of the unit, the Controller in charge ,Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong reputation in modern public service.

 

Aliyu described public trust as one of the most valuable assets of the service, noting that the conduct of officers plays a key role in shaping public perception of the institution.

He said officers operate under constant public scrutiny and must therefore demonstrate professionalism in their engagements with stakeholders and the public.

 

Comptroller Aliyu warned that actions such as perceived corruption, poor stakeholder engagement, or inappropriate public statements could damage the credibility of the service and erode public trust built over many years.

 

He also stressed that consistent professionalism and transparent operations would help strengthen public confidence in the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Aliyu further highlighted recent improvements in the service’s integrity ratings, noting that the agency has received recognition in assessments by Transparency International.

 

He assured that reputation management would remain a key part of capacity-building initiatives within the unit and urged officers to apply the lessons learned from the workshop in their daily duties.

 

Aliyu also encouraged participants to serve as ambassadors of trust for the Nigeria Customs Service both within the organisation and in their interactions with the public.
