FG Launches App for Easy Access to CNG Fueling Stations Nationwide


An application has been launched by the federal government to give Nigerians easy access to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuelling stations nationwide.

Known as Rideshare Conversion Incentive Programme and the My CNG APP, the application was developed by the Presidential Compressed Natural GAS Initiative (PCNGI) in line with the objects of the current administration.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi said the official launched of the application, marks a significant milestone in government’s efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions.

Represented by the Director General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr Muhammed Bulama, the minister of information said the launch also signified the current administration’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable transportation for the Citizenry.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, GAS, Ekperipe Ekpo who commended the PCNGI, for the initiative said the programme and app were expected to contribute to increased access and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions with a view to improve air quality in the country.

Project Director and Chief Executive Officer Presidential Compressed Natural GAS Initiative, Michael Oluwagbemiga explained that CNG is not just about lower transportation but was an opportunity for Nigeria to look inwards to utilise the abundant natural resources in the country.

The Federal Government is hoping to achieve the conversion of at least one million petroleum vehicles in the country to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by 2027.
