The Edo State University Uzairue, has inducted first set of medical doctors from its Faculty of Medicine in a record time of six years.
Inducting the graduands, the Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Doctor Tajudeen Sanusi, charged the newly inductees to take their profession seriously.
“As medical doctors, your call to service is a call to humanity, and you should be very compassionate in to your dealings with”, he said.
Doctor Sanusi commended the state government for establishing the university’s medical school as well as upgrading the Auchi General Hospital to Edo State University Uzairue Teaching Hospital which the council accredited for housemanship for young doctors.
Earlier, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof Emmanuel Aluyor said that the induction marks a significant milestone in the history of the university.
Aluyor said that the state government’s unwavering commitment to education and healthcare, paved the way for the inductees.
According to him, the state-of-the-art facilities provided by the government, created an environment conducive for learning, research and innovation in the institution.
“None of this world have been possible without the exceptional faculty members and trainers who have guided and mentored these students, your passion for teaching, dedication to your craft, your unwavering commitment to excellence have molded these students into competent and compassionate medical professionals”, he said.
