Customs: Deputy Comptroller Onyeka Assumes Office as Tincan Island Port Acting Controller


Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Frank Onyeka, has taken the reins as the new Area Controller of , marking a new dawn for the Customs TPC.

During the handing over ceremony on friday December 20, 2024, Onyeka, in his acceptance speech thanked his predecessor for laying a good foundation for him to thrive upon.He said that as a grounded officer who is versatile, and with his years of experience gained from serving in the command, he will not compromise when it comes to revenue generation, stakeholder’s engagement, and the improvement of work ethics.

“My main goal is to generate revenue seamlessly, without blemish. Like I said, it’s not enough for you to be seasoned, It’s not only enough for you to be grounded and technically super, you need the support of everyone and that’s what I’m going to leverage on but we must have all hands on deck to achieve a common goal.”

The outgoing controller, ACG Dera Nnadi, praised Onyeka as a skilled leader with a professional instinct for trade facilitation, revenue generation, and anti-smuggling feats. Nnadi solicited support from stakeholders and officers for the new CAC, highlighting Onyeka’s unique interpersonal skills, strict adherence to trade compliance, and innovative approach to achieving results.
