The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Oyo/Osun Chapter, has intensified its humanitarian efforts with a series of outreach visits aimed at supporting vulnerable children and widows within the society.
Led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Omowunmi Adewole, the association visited the Ibadan Motherless Babies Home and the House of Providence Special School for Children with Intellectual Disability, where members interacted with the children and provided essential support items to enhance their welfare.
This was disclosed in a press release issued on 2nd April 2026 by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I , Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola.
Speaking during the visits, Mrs. Adewole commended the National President of COWA, Dr. Mrs. Adeniyi Kikelomo, for her consistent guidance and leadership, which she said continues to inspire impactful initiatives across chapters nationwide. She noted that the outreach underscores the association’s commitment to promoting care, inclusion, and compassion for children in vulnerable conditions.
According to her, every child deserves the opportunity to grow in a supportive environment and feel valued, regardless of their circumstances. She said that COWA remains rooted in the principles of discipline, respect, and selfless service values that align with the broader ideals of the Nigeria Customs Service.
As part of the initiative, the association donated various gift items to both institutions and praised the dedication of caregivers and administrators, describing their role in nurturing and supporting the children as both vital and commendable.
Beyond its engagement with children, the association also extended its outreach to widows of Customs officers. Mrs. Adewole presented welfare items to the widows, reaffirming COWA’s commitment to the well being of officers’ families and its inclusive approach to service.
She reiterated the association’s resolve to sustain its humanitarian interventions, noting that acts of kindness no matter how small can foster hope and drive meaningful change in society.
The outreach visits were marked by goodwill messages, warm interactions with beneficiaries, and a renewed pledge by the association to continue its social impact initiatives.
