
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Port Harcourt II Area Command, Comptroller Aliyu Alkali, has begun a series of strategic engagements with major stakeholders operating at the Onne Port.
The visits, according to a press statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Theophilus P. Duniya, are aimed at fostering synergy, collaboration, and intelligence sharing among government agencies to achieve common goals, improve compliance with extant regulations.
Comptroller Alkali met with the Commander of Narcotics, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Port Harcourt Ports Command, Omerio Mathias Odo; the Director of State Security, Port Harcourt Ports Command; and the Commandant, Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Onne, Rear Admiral Victor D. Choji.
Speaking during the visits, Comptroller Alkali underscored the importance of teamwork among agencies operating within the port, noting that sustained collaboration remains key to achieving operational excellence. He reiterated his commitment to aligning with the Comptroller-General of Customs’ policy thrust of consolidation, collaboration, and innovation, which seeks to strengthen relationships across all sectors of port operations.
The Commander of Narcotics, NDLEA, Omerio Mathias Odo, commended the CAC for the initiative and pledged continuous collaboration to curb illicit drug trafficking through the port. The Director of State Security also assured him of timely intelligence sharing to support enforcement activities, while Rear Admiral Victor D. Choji reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to securing the nation’s maritime domain and supporting Customs operations within the legal framework.
He added that the initiative reflects the CAC’sunwavering commitment to optimal revenue collection, enhanced regulatory compliance, and improved port security, in line with the service’s broader mandate to promote economic growth and national security.
