
The Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASC I) Mustapha Olalekan Akiyode, who lost his life in the line of duty.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Unit, Hussaini Abdullahi, who disclosed this in a press release, Comptroller Aliyu, who led a delegation of officers on 4 February , 2026 from the unit to the residence of the deceased officer at Ita Oshin, Abeokuta, Ogun State, conveyed the unit’s heartfelt condolences to the family of their late colleague. The visit took place in a small, sober gathering marked by quiet reflection and shared grief.
He extended the Comptroller General of Customs , Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and the entire Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) family’s deepest sympathies to the bereaved widow, children, and extended relatives. The delegation was warmly received with profound gratitude, creating an atmosphere of mutual support amid the loss. He reassured the family of the NCS Management’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel, both in active service and after.

He further affirmed that the Service will leave no stone unturned in its determination to pursue justice. A thorough investigation is ongoing, with every available resource mobilized to identify, apprehend, and bring the perpetrators of this unfortunate incident to book, ensuring they face the full wrath of the law.

He concluded by reaffirming the supremacy and infinite wisdom of Almighty God, who ordains the destinies of all mortals. He prayed that Allah grants eternal peace to the soul of ASC I Akiyode, comforts his family, and guides all officers in their service to the nation.

ASC I Akiyode was shot in the line of duty by unknown gunmen in the early hours of 3 February 2026, in an ambush along the Ilara–Ijoun axis in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.
