The new Area Controller in charge of Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML), Comptroller Tenny Daniyan has met with stakeholders at PTML, as well as sister agencies to ensure ease of doing business within the environment.
Comptroller Daniyan held a meeting with stakeholders at the command on Thursday, 30 May, 2024.
Speaking at the meeting, the CAC said, it is inline with the directive of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi to constantly engage stakeholders, as enshrined in the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
He reiterated the commitment of the service to facilitate trade, without jeopardizing it’s mandates which include maximum revenue collection.
“I want to reiterate again that the essence of my coming here is to make business good for all of us. I want us to experience a change, good, convenient trade, easy trade and turnovers”. He stated.
“Basically, what we’re here to discuss is the challenges, how we look at them and resolve them but not undermining the mission why I’m here, to collect maximum revenue”. He emphasized.
He urged traders to be compliant to enable them benefit from the modern trade facilitation tools by the service, while also ensuring reduction in non-tariff barriers.
Similarly, the Area Controller also paid a courtesy call to the Commissioner of Police, Western Port Authority Command, Olanrewaju Ishola, MD PTML, Ascanio Russio, as well as operational offices, as part of his strategic plan to create a favourable work environment.
During his visit at the Police Webster Port Authority Command, Comptroller Daniyan pledged to consolidate on the existing relationship with the Nigeria Police Force.
In his words, “Nigeria Customs is here to be of help to any request you make and we are equally soliciting that when we call upon you in the time of need, I trust you will give it to us”.
“We are just consolidating on the existing relationship we have, because I know my predecessors have a fantastic relationship with your office and I trust that you’ll continue in that spirit”. He added.
Welcoming his guest, CP Ishola commended the CAC for his visit saying, it’s a welcome development especially in this period of our polity in Nigeria where inter-agency collaboration and cooperation is necessary to make sure that we serve the nation as it should be served”.
