
The Customs Consultative Committee (CCC) has congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi , on the occasion of his birthday, commending his leadership for driving far reaching reforms and strengthening operational governance within the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its Chairman, Aaree Fwdr Hakeem Olanrewaju Rff, the CCC described the Adeniyi’s tenure as one marked by strategic leadership, institutional reforms, and measurable improvements across key performance areas of the Service.
According to the Committee, notable progress has been recorded in revenue performance, trade facilitation, border management, stakeholder engagement, and the deployment of digital systems across customs operations. The CCC noted that these achievements have enhanced regulatory coordination and boosted confidence among public and private sector stakeholders within Nigeria’s trade, maritime, aviation, and logistics value chains.
The Committee further stated that the reforms under the current Customs leadership align with national economic objectives and Nigeria’s international trade facilitation commitments.
As the CGC l marks his birthday anniversary, the CCC reaffirmed its confidence in his capacity to deepen and consolidate ongoing initiatives, particularly the implementation of trade facilitation instruments, the National Single Window programme, and the centralisation of government revenue collection processes. It described these reforms as critical to achieving procedural efficiency, transparency, inter agency harmonisation, and data driven governance.
The committee also emphasized the importance of sustained policy actions by the Nigeria Customs Service aimed at reducing transactional and compliance costs associated with international trade, noting that such efforts are vital to improving national competitiveness, trade predictability, and the ease of doing business.
Reiterating its commitment to constructive engagement, the Committee pledged continued policy support in furtherance of national development objectives, while wishing the Comptroller General good health and success in the consolidation of ongoing reforms in service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
