CAN Chairman Condemns Attack on Redeem Church , Demands Arrest of Perpetrators


The Chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Reverend Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has strongly condemned the recent arson attack on the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Champion Zonal Headquarters, located along Federal College of Education (FCE) Road.

According to Reverend Yohanna, the church was reportedly set ablaze by suspected hoodlums.

Reverend Yohanna, described the incident as barbaric, expressing deep sorrow on behalf of the Christian community.

He urged the Niger State Government to take swift and decisive action to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.

“There is freedom of worship in Niger State,” Reverend Yohanna stated. “I am confident that once the government and security agencies take appropriate action, it will go a long way in addressing any tensions that could escalate beyond control.”


The attack, which occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, was reported by an Assistant Pastor of the church, Pastor Samson Ogbebor.

The church, which has been serving the community for 20 years, has faced numerous challenges, including previous attacks by hoodlums.

Reacting to the incident, an elder in the church, Mr. John Aboje, encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in their faith and continue to be exemplary Christians and citizens of Nigeria.
