Buhari Commends Umar, Katsina Customs Controller For Community Inclusion in Anti Smuggling

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded Comptroller Mohammed Umar, Customs Area Controller of Katsina for vigorously promoting community inclusion in his preventive anti smuggling strategy.

The former president said this when Comptroller Umar visited him in his Daura country home as part of his tour of various Katsina communities  in the drive to enlist greater compliance through community support
Buhari also praised the inter agency cooperation and collaboration, which according to him, increases the prospects of security agencies defeating criminal elements.
The former President who said security is everyone’s concern, advised the people to always give credible and reliable information to security agencies in the interest of the country
Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Umar said he stopped by at the former President’s abode as a mark of respect, to intimate him about recent customs activities under his watch and enjoy the wise fatherly counsel from the elder statesman.
Umar told the former President that since assumption of office in the state, the Nigeria Customs Service has been enjoying cordial rapport with traditional rulers, community leaders and members of the business community in the state
He added that the message of compliance with the law is equally applicable to all Nigerians including law enforcement officers who must live and lead by example.
While thanking the former President for the audience and encouragement, he said the NCS in the state will continually strive to enjoy from his wealth of experience as a gentleman officer and a leader.
He told Buhari that 24 hours customs anti smuggling operations in the state, particularly in border areas has become more effective with the full support of sister government agencies like the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, Department of State Service, Nigeria Immigration Service and other security agencies
