Badagry Best Location for Proposed Federal University of Technology, Says Rep Whingan


A member of House of Representatives, Badagry Federal Constituency , Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan has condemned rumours stating that the proposed Federal University of Technology planned to be situated in Badagry would be relocated to Ekiti.

According to a Press statement issued by Hon Sesi Whingan, the Bill for the establishment of the University has passed its first reading at the National Assembly.

He however affirmed that the initiative will bring growth and development to Badagry. The legislator urged the residents of the area to remain hopeful and ignore rumours against the project.

His words ” I, Honorable Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, representing the esteemed constituents of Badagry Federal Constituency, wish to address recent speculations regarding the proposed establishment of the Federal University of Technology in Badagry.”

” It has come to my attention that there are circulating rumors suggesting a potential relocation of the proposed university to Ekiti. I categorically state that these rumors are baseless and inaccurate”

“The bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Technology in Badagry, a project that I wholeheartedly endorse and actively involved in, recently passed its first reading in the National Assembly. This marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to realize this vision. I reaffirm that Badagry has been selected as the site for this institution due to its strategic location, rich historical significance, and immense potential for educational development”

“The process of establishing a university involves rigorous stages, including subsequent readings, thorough committee reviews, and extensive consultations. I want to emphasize that, at this juncture, there have been no deliberations or decisions to relocate the proposed university to Ekiti or any other location. Our commitment to Badagry is resolute and is grounded in a well-thought-out choice that aligns with our objectives for regional progress.”

“I urge the residents of Badagry to remain composed and disregard these unfounded rumors. My colleagues and I are dedicated to facilitating the smooth passage of the bill and the eventual establishment of the university in Badagry.
