
Arik Air, Nigeria’s leading airline, has been honoured with the award of the Labour Friendly Airline of the Year 2024 by the Joint Consultative and Negotiating Council (JCNC), an amalgam of the four existing trade unions in the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace
Development.
According to Adebanji Ola, the airline’s Public Relations and Communications Manager who disclosed this in a press statement, the award was presented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, who represented the Minister at the 11th edition of the Aviation Workers Week held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja on February 25, 2025.
Receiving the award, the Chairman of National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Arik Air chapter, Engineer Mudi Muhammad, who represented the Chief Executive Officer of the airline, Captain Roy Ilegbodu, thanked JCNC for finding Arik Air deserving of such a great award and promised that the management would continue to build a more lasting relationship with the workers and unions.
Speaking on the unique award, the CEO of Arik Air, Captain Ilegbodu said: “We are honoured to have received the Labour Friendly Airline of the Year award from the JCNC of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development. The Receivership team has always prioritised the welfare of Arik Air workers since taking over in 2017″.
This is the second time Arik Air will be so honoured by the JCNC of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
