Apapa Customs Receives Commendation fromv Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard, Pledges Stronger Collaboration

The Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard in Lagos Rear Admiral Ibrahim Shehu has commended Comptroller Babatunde Olomu and the Apapa Area Command for ensuring hitch free cargo movement of naval consignments passing through the port

IMG 20250508 WA0097Admiral Shehu who said this during a familiarisation visit to Comptroller Olomu, lauded the trade facilitation feats by the NCS and specifically commended the naval collaboration with NCS while appreciate the support given whenever the dockyard takes delivery of its imported items

Her described the customs team as fantastic and promises to strengthen the existing relationship between both organisations and expressed readiness to be of service any time the NCS needs ship building, repair and general vessel maintenance

IMG 20250508 WA0096Comptroller Olomu, FSI,while warmly receiving the guests said the Navy is critical to maritime security and a strategic partner with the service as a sister government agency.

He informed that the command is committed to delivering on its core mandates of revenue collection, trade facilitation and anti smuggling . According to him, Apapa Command plays the responsibility of collecting over forty percent of the total revenue target of the service.

IMG 20250508 WA0098He added that the service collected over ₦2.3tr last year and not far from hitting ₦1tr any moment from now.

In the spirit of inter-agancy collaboration, Comptroller Olomu said the customs has built and is sustaining a robust relationship not only with the Navy but also with all other organisations.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the meeting, Admiral Shehu said the Naval Dockyard Limited is playing an important role in the nation’s blue economy agenda especially as it concerns the repair of merchant vessels
