The Western Zone of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has announced that the purpose for it’s forthcoming first-ever Annual Table Tennis Tournament is to help the key players in the maritime, aviation, and border sectors stay fit and socialise.
During a press briefing which was held at the venue of the event, NOT BAD SPORTS ARENA, Egbeda, Lagos, the ANLCA Vice President, Segun Oduntan, who made the announcement said the Western Zone of the Association is the pioneer of the tournament.He noted that it will continue yearly and other Zones may participate in subsequent ones.
He explained that it was in the Association’s plan for the tournament to occur on 6th and 7th of December ,2024 which is at the concluding part of the year.According to him, this will make the participants involve in exercise and unwind from the stress of work accumulated since the beginning of the year.
” The tournament is organized for the participants to keep fit and we have decided to start with table tennis first which involves the Western Zone first.
” We want to bring stakeholders together in order for them to interact, socialise and perform exercise.”
Oduntan disclosed that the paticipant form is free and about 30 organizations which includes Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) , Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) , Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) amongst others have shown interest.
The ANLCA Vice President stated that the Nigeria Table Tennis Umpire will supervise the game as the prize to be shared among winners in N10m.He confirmed that all preparations have been made and medical personnels will be a available to take care of casualties .
Femi Anifowose, the ANCLA Western Zone Coordinator, said the poor state of health of individuals is alarming and exercises have a way of helping the body to maintain good health.
“Many people don’t knowtournament.He their state of health but exercises will unveil that and bring about seeking medical attention early.”
” This is the first of its kind and it will continue in subsequent years.We believe the outcome will be massive.”
The Proprietor of the NOT BAD SPORTS ARENA, Mike Ohadike, appreciated the management of ANCLA for choosing the facility for the competition.He also guaranteed quality service.
