Adeniyi, Customs CG Backs COWA’s Vision, As Mrs Kikelomo Leads Members on Year-End Festivity


The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to bolster COWA’s mission.

This includes empowering women, sponsoring children’s education, and conducting medical outreach programs at various Customs formations across Nigeria.

During the inaugural end-of-year party held on December 20, 2023, organized for children by Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, the National President of Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), CGC Bashir Adeniyi conveyed his dedication to COWA’s course.

20231223 002720The end-of-year/children’s party was organized to foster unity and bring both the women and the children together to enhance bond and ensure empowerment.

When asked about the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to supporting COWA in providing quality education for children, CGC Bashir Adeniyi affirmed ongoing preparations to establish more Customs Staff Primary and Secondary Schools nationwide, complementing the existing institutions.


20231223 002717He commended the association and went further to lay emphasis on how the organization tends to help COWA by reaffirming the re-establishment of schools in 5 different locations in addition to the ones in Kano, Idiroko and Kaduna.

He stated that the aim is to ensure that the best is given and the kids also get empowered academically and all round, as it is part of the Service’s budgets mapped out for the Year 2024.

In a separate interview, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi expressed her utmost commitment to rebranding COWA by implementing impactful projects benefitting members nationwide. She urged Officers’ Wives to continue supporting their husbands in all aspects for mutual success in their duties.

20231223 002714Expressing her innermost gratitude and happiness for the success of the event, Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi also credited COWA’s successes to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for making the event colourful and standing firm by COWA starting from June 2023, when she assumed Office.

On her part, Mrs. Maryjane Itotoh, the National Vice President of COWA and Wife of DCG Greg Itotoh, applauded Mrs. Adeniyi’s leadership and conveyed readiness to support her in achieving the goals of the Year 2024.

Maryam Abba-Kura, Hauwa Alkali, Hauwa Abba-Kura, Jessica James, Precious Adejo, and Al-Amin Habib were amongst the hundreds of children who attended the party as they expressed their joy for the event while also commending COWA for organizing the celebration.
