Assistant Comptroller General of Customs Auwal Baba Mohammed has signed off from his former duty post of Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command with a record breaking revenue collection of N10,090,893,509 on Thursday August 3, 2023.
Mohammed before departure to Abuja, described the collection as a testament of the renewed zeal to block revenue leakage and facilitate trade in line with the aspiration of the Ag. Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
Mohammed, who led customs in Apapa to achieve N9.2b daily revenue collection on July 20 capped the record again on August 3 with the N10b collection making the Thursday’s figure the highest daily generated revenue
Findings by JournalNG show that Apapa command’s collection amounted to 54 percent of the total revenue of N18,551,073,805.15 collected by the NCS nationwide on Thursday
Between August 1 to 3 , 2023 the command collected N22,088,330,978 which translates to 41 per cent of total nationwide revenue of N53,446,252,793.76 for the first three days of the eighth month.
ACG Mohammed enjoined officers and men of the command to keep the tempo of performance higher and reminded them that Apapa Command and indeed the Nigeria Customs Service is strategic in government drive for a robust trade environment and critical in the collection of non oil revenue for national development.
He added that all feats achieved under his watch were products of joint efforts and stated that the officers and men should be ready to surmount the achievements for the greater good of the country
